Title: Temporal dynamics of sperm in females of the spruce budworm (SBW), Choristoneura fumiferana

Authors: Mireille Marcotte, Johanne Delisle and Jeremy N. McNeil

Abstract: During mating, SBW males transfer two types of sperm, apyrene (anucleated) and eupyrene (nucleated). Their temporal distribution within the female reproductive tract varied considerably. These differences will be discussed with respect to the potential role of the two types of sperm in the short and long term control of post-mating pheromone inhibition, a phenomenon also called pheromonostasis.
